SCHEART Healthcare Emergency Net
Preamble MARCH 1, 2013
Good Morning/Evening, welcome to the SCHEART Healthcare Emergency Training Net. This is a directed Net. In an actual healthcare event, a net could be activated to provide redundant communications for hospitals and other ESF-8 health and medical agencies.
Acting as your net control operator today is Name. I am located in County, my call sign is phonetically.
The mission of the Healthcare Emergency Amateur Radio Team is to provide trained volunteer Radio Response Team Members to support Healthcare Facilities in times of emergencies. This net is conducted in accordance with FCC Rule, Part 97, Section 113 (a) (3) (i).
If you are listening in by radio or streaming audio at www.scheart.us, you may participate in the net by sending an e-mail check-in to crockett@scetv.org (I Spell: Charlie Romeo Oscar Charlie Kilo Echo Tango Tango At Symbol Sierra Charlie Echo Tango Victor Dot Oscar Romeo Golf). Those check-ins will be acknowledged at the end of the net.
The purpose of this net is to train RRT members to use ham radio equipment to provide redundant communications for hospitals and other ESF-8 health and medical agencies. Local RRT members will use agency or facility ham radio equipment where possible to check into the net. We will take individual check-ins after going thru the DHEC regions.
This net will be conducted on Thursdays each week. The net time will alternate between 9:00 P.M. and 9:00 A.M. We will rotate the starting area for check-ins each week. For those stations that will be checking into the net please observe the following guidelines:
When transmitting, please key your mike and wait 3-4 seconds before speaking so that the repeaters can link up.
Then give your call sign phonetically, followed by your name, county, and facility. (Example: This is Kilo Delta Four Juliet Delta Juliet, My name is Roger, Im located in Richland County and Im affiliated with ARES at South Carolina State EOC.) Then list any message traffic or announcements if you have them.
(For Week 1 of the month, start with Low Country. Week 2 start with the Midlands Region. For Week 3, start with the Pee Dee Region. For Week 4, start with the Upstate Region. If the month has 5 Thursdays, then Week 5 will start with Low Country and Week 1 of the following month will also start with Low Country.)

In addition we have a scheduled Statewide ARES net every Sunday night using the SCHEART linked system at 8:00 PM, and we would like to invite each of you to join us there as well. Also if you are DSTAR capable, please take time to check into the Coastal DSTAR Health Care net every Thursday at 8:30 AM on Reflector 030B (Thirty Bravo), before the regular AM SCHEART net that meets at 9:00 AM. ARES NET OPERATING PROCEDURES 2012
Un key and allow the repeater to drop between paragraphs or during any long transmission to allow for break-in traffic.
When asking stations to call net control, do not also ask them to use your call sign. Examples: Stations please call Net Control. DO NOT say Stations please call Net Control KX4ZZZ
Identify yourself at 10 minute maximum intervals during the next. This can be accomplished by saying; This is KX4ZZZ or This is Net Control KX4ZZZ
Calling all ARES members. (Repeat three times)
This is (YOUR CALL, FIRST NAME, and POSITION) net control station, calling together the Amateur Radio Emergency Services Net for (DATE). This net is originating from (name area and city or /town)
This net meets on Sunday evenings at 20:00 local time using the linked repeater of the S. C. Hearts system, and in Charleston the CARS Club and HEART.
The purpose of this net is to assist ARES operators in the training for and handling of emergency communications.
While this net is directed to ARES members, we welcome and encourage all amateur radio operators to check in, even if you are not a member of ARES or RACES. All stations are asked to stay checked in until the end of the net. Announcements will be at the beginning and conclusion of roll call.
This is a directed net. All communications must be directed to net control unless otherwise authorized. If you have an emergency during the net please state the word EMERGENCY followed by your call and the frequency will be turned over to you for the duration of the emergency.

FORMAL NET CHECK-IN PROCEDURE
I will now stand by for the regular net check-ins. I will call stations by South Carolina Emergency Management areas. Area 1, 2, 3, 4, ( Area 5 is linked at 20:20) 5, 6, Georgia and North Carolina. Please give a count of two seconds after keying the mike and then give your call slowly, using standard, international phonetics, along with your name, location(comment: define location: are you looking for City, County, or physical location like Palmetto Richland? Perhaps physical locations are only needed for locations you expect the use of Tactical call signs). Remember to listen before keying the mike, and then allow the repeaters to link up before speaking.
This is net control, your call in phonetics, now taking check in stations from Area 1 which includes Abbeville, Anderson, Edgefield, Greenville, Greenwood, McCormick, Oconee and Pickens.
Stop the net and ask the net to stand by whenever you need to in order to confirm check-ins and proceed to call for more check-ins.

We will now take check-ins from area 3 which includes Calhoun, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry, Richland and Saluda

We will now take check-ins from area 5 and in order to minimize doubling, we will take Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester separately starting with Berkeley County.
