UPDATE: Due to the Corona virus, we’ve decided to present the classes by video conference using Zoom videoconferencing (<\/b><\/span>http:\/\/zoom.us<\/a> ) If you didn’t have the time to attend in person, now is your chance. Email me at <\/b><\/span>midlandsve@gmail.com<\/a>. I’ll forward your email to your instructor and they will send you an invitation to the video conference.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve never used videoconferencing before, Here\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a couple of tips:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Use a headset or headphones. Any headphones that plug into your computer will do. Even the wired ones that came with your cell phone, if it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s using the \u00bc\u00e2\u20ac\u009d plug.\u00a0 This eliminates feedback when you un mute your microphone.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Mute your microphone when not speaking to the instructor. Otherwise the class will hear any background noise from your computer.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Find the text\/ chat function and\u00a0 use it.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    SCHEART will be offering Ham (Amateur) Radio classes in March. All classes will be running from March 16th through 20th. Some classes will not take the whole week, but will finish when all the material is covered.<\/p>\n

    New hams will have to start out with the\u00a0Technician<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0course.<\/p>\n

    All classes will be held at SCETV headquarters, 1041 George Rogers Blvd. Columbia, SC. from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.<\/p>\n

    All classes are free. If you wish to attend, please RSVP to\u00a0MidlandsVE@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    Testing will be offered on March 21st at 08:55am. Please bring a photo ID, an original and copy of any Ham Radio license and $10.00 cash. If a child is testing and has no photo I.D., bring a copy of a birth certificate.<\/p>\n

    If you are testing for the first time, you will need to bring your FCC Registration Number (FRN), which you can get here:\u00a0https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/yayymn28<\/a><\/p>\n
